Fungi I.D help please. Base of Douglas Fir

If anyone can help I.D this that would be fantastic! Pictures should be attached. I'm not great with fungi and not seen this one before. 

It's sporadically around the root plate area of 3 Douglas Firs, nothing on the stems etc and other then the expected snapped branches they seem in good condition. There are about 17 Firs in this property but only 3 with this at the base as said. They are ranging from 80ft to 110ft and averaging 2.5ft dbh.

Hope someone can help and thanks in advance

As they're on conifers I'd say Phaeolus schweinitzii is a good candidate; a bit difficult telling from knackered old brackets though!

 

In the extraordinary event I'm right it's not good news for the trees.

 

But wait for better knowledge to come along.
