Disease issue

Recommended Posts

Can anyone throw some light on this diseased tree. It has died off due to some type of insect eating it’s way under the bark as photos. The last photo shows the back of the bark. Has anyone come across this and knows what it is?

Thanks with there being no leaves I didn’t realise it was elm. Presume the wood is still ok for the wood burner after seasoning as there doesn’t seem like anything in the wood itself just the bark?

Some of the best fire wood is dead standing Elm . Love it .
