Sounds like you got lucky with this one and it could have gone tits up, all for £300. 

Every day is a learning day and from your posts it sounds like you've learned  a lesson, I don't climb at all 'cos its too dangerous to teach yourself. Climbing isn't a DIY skill.

Spoke to a good friend of mine the other day.

One his mates has died recently after being crushed by a tree. 

A few of them felled a tree and it went wrong.

I didn't push for the finer details as he was understandably upset. 

But I asked if they had any experience which they didn't. Apparently it took a couple hours to cut the poor guy out. Must've been a big un. And they probably didn't have a big enough saw. 

 

Stay safe and dont be stupid.
