Hi all,

Newbie to the site. I bought an artic load of logs last July with the intention of processing them myself for use in my log gasifying boiler for my new build.

Things changed and I never got around to processing them.

I just want someone now who will come to my house in South Tipperary, and process all the logs into firewood for me.

I have access to a 100hp tractor here with a front loader so you don't need to bring over any tractors. All you've to bring is your processor and your saw.

the timber i'm told is conifer logs, various diameter from 20 to 40 cm, approx half load is in 3metre lengths with the other half in 1 to 1.5 metre lengths.

I'm located 100 miles south of Dublin and 70 miles west of rosslare (where all the ferries from fishguard sail to).

Any takers?

thanks

C.

i saw some people advertising processors for hire at the ploughing match this year, ill dig out the numbers and post them later or in the morning.

How much did you pay for the wood? You buy it from Coillte?

These are the companies i was thinking of. Worrell Harvesting hire out the processor for sure, the other company sell but im not sure about hireing, ring to check.

Hope it helps

Darren: They told me it was a 25m3 load I was given. I'm not sure how long it would take you to get through it all. I'm actually at a stage now where if there is an anyway reasonable offer for someone to come do it, then it wouldn't be refused! I'd sort out accommodation for you (don't worry - it won't be a tent)

Jensma: Yeah i got the wood from Coillte. Paid €1k for it delivered. thanks very much for the worrell harvesting contact - If only i could find a few monkeys now who'd do the work for me!

Can you remember did you have the option to buy hardwood from Coillte? Just wondering as i am thinking of getting a load off them.

Jensma: No they didn't offer me the option of hardwood at the time. It was a case of whatever they were logging at the time. Worrell Harvesting told me to come back to them in a couple of months as their processor is very busy at this time of year.

Dave Martin: No I didn't call any members monkeys.

Mozza: No I didn't call any members monkeys.

What I said and meant was that If i sourced a machine to hire then I would need to find some bodies who would come and do all the unloading for me, the donkeywork as its known. that doesn't imply they are donkeys either. but you know what I mean.
