Sucker removal from lime tree

Fair point and I suppose realistically if it’s one tree and one job it’s no great odds. Besides the suckers will want cutting back yearly to keep them under control

We used to do them as soon as they got long enough to trim off. They do look messy when there's a lot and it's like a giant burr when they are left then cut off.

I reckon if I get the job I'm just going to cut them in May. I'll have to strim the grass around the tree every month through the growing season anyway so why not just strim off any leaf growth that regrows from the sucker stubs at the same time? That should keep them cropped indefinitely.
