Stihl GS 461, concrete chainsaw.

Has anyone used one of these. How does it compare to a standard road saw- feel like it could be easier to use and more versatile- due to increased plunge depth- certainly the videos look good.

I think Spud had the pleasure ? of working on one a few years ago. I've never seen one but from working on disc cutters I think they sound like a recipe for hearbreak and with a decent chain at over £150 I would look long and hard at any alternatives.

Cuts like a chain saw stihl chain is shite both chain and bar wear out really quick far better to use diamond blade. but these are ideal tools for a square cut or plunge we found the hydraulic version much better, needs lots of water to run cool and clean

Have used it for putting openings into rc walls, cut long runs with disc and finish off corners with chainsaw. Very difficult to get my head around not leaning on it like a borecut or pushing cut on a regular saw but it was ideal for precision cutting.

I was kind of thing about it for cutting through concrete/tarmac for digging trenches. But not sure if it has much benefit over a road saw for that application... in fact think road saw could be better for long linear cuts, but chain saw better for fiddly stuff

I have not seen a chain for Tarmac chains wear really quickly if you try to cut concrete and sub base at the same time

It’s a very expensive saw to run but is very good at square cutting corners
