this pastel picture of an old stump is on my wall at home. done by a little known artist called Eric Hancock (known by me as grandad). He gave it two names;  "Shattered Bole" and "Guardian of Loughrigg Tarn"

It is 3 X 4 METERS!! and done with a 6B pencil. (maybe more than one)

Extraordinary and beautiful! Probably the artist had to cut a tree down afterwards for wood to replace the pencils.

That's a lot of detail for what's barely bigger than A4. It's lovely to have full provenance and a personal connection with art.

Whoa! That says glasspaper. Is it really pastels on sandpaper?

One of my favourite artists, Paul Signac "Sunset, Herblay", I was delighted to find an example of a tree painted by a Pointilist. Pointilism is creating a picture with dots of different coloured paint. The lighting in the gallery was rubbish, photo is not the best.
