long or short gaffs ???

hi guys i have got loads of monterey pines to take down over the next couple months , any way i was down in my unit earlyer looking at the spare set of bashlin alloy spikes and thought about putting a set of long gaffs on them to get through ther thick bark on the montereys but have never used long gaffs before and was wondering if any of you have done this before ?? also what are your thoughts on long gaffs ??

i used to use long for ded,s, and things like aspen

i still have a set but rarely use them

but will hang on to them

but a mate uses them all the time

i was just looking at the price of the gaffs and they are pretty cheep so i may give them a try , if i dont like them i will post them to you wrapped in photos of me taking the trees down lmao:thumbup:
