glyphosate stem injection quals?

I was wondering what qualification you need to carry out stem injections of glyphosate into trees and shrubs.?

depends in what situation, ideally PA1 and PA6 for pesticides and hand-held applications or there is a CS40-something which is for stump treatment in a forestry situation

charlieh, how much is one of those chainsaw mills you have in your avatar? is it good? do the planks need much "finishing"?

i think they were about 180 when i bought mine but i think they have gone up a bit since, then you need a ripping chain as well

 

if you can get the saw and chain set up right they are pretty good but not a smooth finish by any stretch, sorry i saw you had tried to pm me yesterday so i have deleted a load now!

I'm not sure if stem injection guns are suitable for woody tissue, the hole is in the side of the needle so that the end doesn't get blocked. I am only aware of their use for hollow stemmed plants such as Jap knotweed. Hatcheting into the cambium would be more suitable for trees and shrubs.

PA1/6 would cover their use and is essential for buying the glyphosate- no doubt if their use increased there would soon be a cert to cover it!

I spoke to the supplyer they told me Pa1/PA6but the also do there own course on how to use it. As said above thought they are only for hollow stemed weeds.

Morning, thanks for the replies. OK the stem injection is going to be used on a nature reserve and I believe in the past they have used stem injection for control over rhod and sycamore. I think they use a system of drilling and injecting into the stems. I have CS 40 but not PA1+6 but I know and man who does. Cheers steve

pa1 for sure as it covers handling and understanding the label,but the glyphosate you use must have been approved for that specific use.
