Hama it is defo polyporus this Ash tree is an old coppice and it has been on there every year. And here is a baby one:thumbup:

that pic on the link of the dead emergents all white and malformed is in my opinion nothing like any squamosus ive ever seen, im going for another look!

Ive been racking my brain now, looking reallllll hard and do you know what, that is looking like a very very rare find to me, the oak polypore, polyporus quercinus and a very important find if I am right.

 

i will try to get in contact with the finder recorder.

I mean piptoporus quercinus! doh!

 

its often mistaken for fistulina from below.

I've only come across it hosting on Beech, Sycamore, Capadocium Maple, Chestnut, Willow, Polar, Ash & Elm, never seen it on Oak, and can not find any reference of it on Oak.
