Finally weighted my LDV (empty)

Not sure if its long or extra Rupe, but it has a 10foot body on it and now chip box is nearer 8 feet with the toolbox off the front.

 

Must be long (standard). Strange though, my tipper is 9 and a bit feet so yours would have been longer without the tool box. My tool box is then 2 foot something makign the whole thing about 12foot, so would only have worked on an extra long.

 

So for all that extra chassis and driveshaft weight, I still think I did ok. My main saving was the aluminium chassis though. I can't remember who much difference that made, i did work it out. Without that advantage mine would be well over yours.

Too right Rupe, i dare say without the ally, you could be looking nearer 2600kg.

 

Trouble is, whatever wheelbase/cab type, the gvw is still 3500, so good on you:thumbup1:

 

Mine was a quick job afterall, and the main objectives were to build something i was capable of doing myself, with limited time and materials i was used to working with. Also i am happy i managed to keep it under 2500

Might also be worth considering the train weight. This usually increases the overall allowed weight. Unless I'm hugely wrong my Mit Canter 3.5t has a train weight of 5.5t so whatever the trailer as long as I stay within 5.5t I'm ok, soon as the trailer is off down to 3.5t
