Hamadryad, are you trying to say man replicates nature i.e coppicing, pollarding and layering. Saw it in nature and thought that's a good idea I'll have a go at that.

 

when you break it down, yes.

 

but i am also saying that he was aware of the effects fungi had too, hence seperation of butts from cattle damge and consequent fungal colonisation and damge.

 

also that, if pollarding is so bad, how come in nature it is as natural a proscess as you can get. that these vets often go on for longer than any virgin maiden.

 

that the effect of decay and dysfunction can lead to a re juvenation of a tree from certain decreptitude etc etc etc

 

that many many moons ago, it was clear open grown pollards for cattle fodder or tools also grew desirable, food medicinal and other fungi.

 

usefull by products would not have been overlooked nor under utilised.

Don't worry us Gypo's no all the about horticultural/Agricultural rights, you get 3 years to get up and running, then your off or you get planning/licensing, and in 90% of cases you're off, I've got 8 stables and a couple of instore beef rearing units if you're interested............
