Shindaiwa 488 in bits

Hi

Have a Shindaiwa 48cc chainsaw that recently started running rough/cutting out.  When running right it was a great mid sized saw

The local repairers report it is f***** and say the piston and pot are scored rendering it beyond economic repair

I can feel scoring on the piston but the pot feels smooth.  Does anyone think the parts might be worth something if anyone has one

Shindaiwa is Japanese not Chinese and not a bad make but this was new about mid 1990's so probably not many around now

If it's a quality saw the chances are the bore will be nikasil, these will often survive "nipping up" and just need the aluminium pick up, from the piston, removing (with acid or alkali). D and D in Greece can supply piston and rings for some models.

https://www.dlastore.com is his main site but he is dandrikop on ebay, though ebay is more expensive
