The only legal trailer behind a Disco with a Cat B licence is a 750kg plated one.

 

You can not use a heavier but empty one.

swore blind you can't tow ANY trailer without a B+E.

You can put your reg in and it shows what you can tow.

If you can only tow unbraked 750kg on a b license, what about caravans?

If I was driving a tractor, I could tow over 20tons with 30+ton Mam on a b license.

Cant tow caravans rough. I couldnt tow mine till i passed my hgv in 07 which then gave me full access. [emoji106]

I hate to say it but he's right rough hewn. Take a look on the gov website. Towing on a B licence you have to take into account the MAM (maximum authorised mass, that's plated weight not actual loaded weight) of both the towing vehicle and the trailer. For example...the maximum you could possibly tow on a B licence would be 1750kg but to do that the mam of the towing vehicle would have to be 1750kg, it would have to have a towing capacity of at least 1750kg and the trailer would have to be plated for a maximum gross weight of 1750kg meaning the mam of both trailer and towing vehicle combined would be 3500kg. The guy I did my b+e with was an ex traffic cop and explained it all to me

Why would the HMRC know?

 

What has tractor driving got to do with it?

 

I said that you & the disco can only tow 750kg.

 

With say a mondeo that has a 2000kg MAM you could tow a trailer plated to 1500kg. But still not the 2.6t loaded to 1.5t.

 

I teach this stuff your understanding is wrong.

Been covered several times but always causes confusion.
On both parts, professional or amateur its not easily understood.
