hi everyone, was just wondering if i'm doing the right thing. i've allways wanted to work with trees but from leaving school never found anything i liked available and kind of fell into an electrical apprentiship when i was 18, 4 years on i hate it and have just bought a chainsaw(husqvarna 345). i'm looking to do my cs30, cs31, cs38, cs39, NPTC Manually-fed Wood Chipper Operation

, NPTC Stump Grinders all in short courses satarting at the beginning of next year. is this going to put me in the right position to get a job in arboriculture? any feedback would be much appreciated. thanks.

It will certainly help you to get a foot on the proverbial ladder thats for sure. Show willing, make your face known and if you get a chance then grab it! Best of luck.

i would recommend a 10 week intensive course. there are various colleges that offer it. it teaches you alot about theory, biology, law, pests and diseases etc. not just the tickets.

get the nptc tickets, you will be unlikely to find work with out them, I a made the mistake of doing a college arb course, I enjoyed the theory and got a lot from it but I dont think it got me a lot of work.

thanks guys, i was going to start a part time level 2 course without any practical but a friend of mine said that it'd be helpful but not until i've got my ticket as i wouldn't be able to work without them. hopefully all goes to plan! cheers!
