I found this in the back of the cupboard and can't identify it.

Does anyone recognise the bottle?

I think it's Metaxa, but we've three votes for whisky, all from non whiskey drinkers. I'm discounting whiskey because 1) I've never seen any whiskey in a bottle like it and; 2) I very much doubt I'd leave a bottle of whiskey half drunk.

It's an acquired taste for sure. Some are better than others.

i don't suppose she'd have any idea of a name that I could search? Per chance. This lot are going to need proof, they're adamant it's whiskey [emoji38]
No joy I'm afraid.. there seem to be memory issues regarding the name, but the sight of the bottle has stirred some vague sense of nausea! we had a quick Google of bottle designs and limited runs of the stuff.. nothing with the same bottle, a few close to it but not the exact one!

Will you thank her I thought it was a long shot really.

Strangely enough I also suffer from memory problems and nauseous bouts linked to alcohol consumption now and again.

BTW, the lower stars (3 star) are supposedly considered more drinkable than the five and sevens, or so I'm told, should she want another go at it.

This place seems to sell an identical bottle which makes me wonder if the stuff you bought was a small producer's attempt at a Metaxa style drink? (I would have thought if it was a genuine Metaxa the bottle would be unique).

At first glance I would have said Greek olive oil. Are you sure you've not been drinking perfume?
