Apple iPad phone number

I've just got a message on my iPad asking me to confirm my phone number so that I can continue accessing my account. The last digits shown are my phone number,it displays like this +44xxxxxxxx260 is this legit or does it want ignoring?

I think we might have got our wires crossed here. It's the apple account not my bank account.

It isn't because you may have an iPhone using the same account and it is Apple making sure both devices are yours?

Good question. The only internet access I have now is thethering from my iPhone.
