I am a sole trader. No staff just subbies. Been asked for a duns number to carry some work out for natural England. Registration looks easy but I am not a Ltd company etc.

Anyone had to do this or know anything about it?

I had to do one once, didn't take any time and was confirmed within a day. Not sure of its purpose, I had forgotten we had one until now.

First I’ve heard of it as well Bill.

Sounds like a load of old Yank bollocks to ‘secure your position in the global marketplace’, but it’s free so you might as well go for it.

Apparently issued to ‘all registered businesses’, whatever that means.
