Chipper Advice

Sorry my mistake, checked hire records 220/ 55- guess this means 8 inch 55 hp, still was lacking in chipping performance and what is that plastic curtain all about in the infeed?

 

I think you'll find a lot of new chippers come with the plastic flaps in the infeed.:wave:

The older tw or entecs were much better built. I love my one chips 6 inch fine any thing else i get favours for logs 2.5 tonnes an hour why do you need anything else. :wave:

 

You must have the little petrol engined TW? I used to use one of those 7 or 8 years ago when I was an employee. They are handy little machines being so light and they do chip well. I used to think that they were brilliant but when you start using bigger machines you realise that they do struggle on anything over 5" and when compared to the 9 tons per hour that my machine kicks out they aren't really much good on bigger jobs or if you're working on the roadside and need to chip quickly. But they are a useful machine, just suited more to smaller stuff like in Logologists video.:wave: If you get a bigger chipper you'll wonder how you managed without it, the performance more than makes up for the extra weight.

I've noticed a lack of the bigger (14, 18 inch knives) chippers in the UK. It that just my imagination?

Very few tree services will run a big chipper. its mostly a few landclearing guys who run the big chippers.

Is it because of the tighter quarters over there?
