Hi, i was wondering if someone could help me. Do you know where the chain brake band is on a Stihl MS271? Do you have to remove the clutch to get to it?

Thank you

I just tried unscrewing the screw on the top right of the image, but the whole plastic plate at the back is in one piece. I can't find a little plastic cover. Can anybody help? (apologies, i am a beginner)

I've cleaned it up and it still appears as if the plastic backing is in one big piece. I've taken out all the screws and i'm trying to pry it open now, but it's really tight and i'm worried i might snap it.

The whole plastic cover comes off in one piece, it is held in place with 3 small torx screws. Once these are removed, the cover is keyed in to the bottom engine cradle by way of tabs on the cover and slots in the lower engine cradle. The cover can be removed by pulling the top of the cover forward and levering the bottom out.

Bear in mind that the chain brake is a safety device and it appears you haven't got much of an idea on working on saws!
