firewood expectations

well more about logs we finished converting the last of this yrs arb waste up to today & wasnt sure what to expect the final volume would be taking in to account its not been that good ayear ,but have finished up with a total off 130 b/bags & 400 sacks wich is about 20 b/b up on last yr any one else been bored enough to do there sums

How much time do you estimate you have spent making that volume of firewood?

i reckon i had about 200 big bags worth johny, i am starting to sell firewood weekly now, what size of sacks are you using, i bought the really wee ones, like the petrol stations, they hold about 1o logs, but they are very time consuming to fill, and i have only sold 1 bag lol, customers seem very happy with te big dumpy bags, it keeps it tidy and gives them a ubit of measurement in there heads, i always tell them it is more like half a cube and weighs about quarter of a ton, thanks to you

its about 8,days ,in all did 20 b/b yesterday & 15 today then ran out of wood, not sure what size the sacks are will have to measure 1,

i have 25 big bags of beech split into chunks awaiting a bay to be cleared so it can get split and about 15ton i reckon in lenghts, i am delivering tomorrow morning and then i am going to start sourcing more wood, i want to try and get a big stock pile of spilt lenghts, i am really needing to make the move into a a bigger splitter and circular saw i reckon

Is it all general mixed size arb stuff then? Rings and short lengths etc?

 

How do you process it? How many guys?

do all with a processer 2 of us usaly but had 2, days on mi own & did 28 b/bag we use the palax as a stand alone splitter for the rings

Do you cut stuff up on a job in a handy size ready for ultimately turning into logs, or do you just get your timber off site as quick as poss and saw it up later when doing logs?

 

Sorry if this sounds a bit nosey, but I don't retail firewood, the people I deal with all have different approaches to handling.

were ever possible dress it ready for the palax on site, its got to be done some time, can get a 14" ring in the splitter part so anything bigger we just rip down to size ,have done a few mods to the palax by adding a couple of bits of rope

do you think the palax has been a good buy johny, and do you think you could take it on site and work at the timber easily, or does it need a lot of room, i was thinking on mounting one behind my truck and trying to turn the conveyor so it feeds straight in to the back
