Just had a quick look at them i take it i won't have the same problems with it spinning off too??

Readong throu it do u cut the lines to size and then just replace them, so no feeding at all? (auto, bump or manual)

If you use a guard with a blade in they will be cut by that . I choose not to use a guard as I find it a hindrance . Therefore I can use a longer length . You need 45cc or more though . Winding the cord onto the spool too tightly when loading it can cause it to lock up. I always used the 440-2 head but it’s the same principle.
Like Stubby says there should be a spacer or washer that will eliminate the spinning off problem.

I thought the whole point of the reverse thread was so the rotation tightened the head onto the machine as it ran?

So did i !!

It seems to be when u stop it unwinds for some reason? I tend to walk about with it always spinning with a tiny bit of throttle.

Not ideal. Really beginning to annoy me now as being doing it for years (i generally don't do a load of strimming or chose a blade)

Timon its still the factory winding how it came out the packet, no idea if to tight orn not thou, doesn't seem tight thou.

I suspect its something to do with the spring? or something holding it down as it never seems to have any give/spring in it.

At moment can't even get it apart and scared to force it too much (yesterday is was almost getting forced apart into a milion pieces with a hammer! Bloody sick of it. Calmed down now)

Cheers stubby, so essentially its just a clamp that clamps the string?

Sounds nice straight forward and simple, which is always a good thing

Think i'll probably go for it.

Do u just use normal line or get heavier stuff?

Cheers

I use 4.0mm square Diamond edge made by Dessert Extrusions  on the 55 cc brushcutter and 3.0mm on the 45cc . I use a 4 line head but only use 2 lines in the lower slots  ( see pic ) . I use a 4 line head because it keeps the nut recessed . I find the plastic cone hat covers it flies off never to be seen again .  If you buy a 2 line head the nut protrudes and will dig in the ground .  Cut a length ( I use about 9inches ) push it into the slot from the wide opening , right through to leave a short tail long enough to get some pliers on when you want to pull it out . give it a little tug back for the internal jaws to grip it .
