Holm oak

Hello all I have just dismantled a massive Holm oak and have just started to split the wood and have found white veins growing through the stem it had a large cavity near the base just wondering if anyone knows the cause of this

Fungal mycelium colonising the timber by growing through the vessels. 

 

You can see the where the mycelium is growing through the trees rays horizontally in the last picture.

Holm Oak....very beautiful timber once milled, even with the fungus.  Got any stems for sale?

No sorry I have loads of lumps but no decent lengths and thank you all for your inputs
