Hope you got the name of the person that you spoke to at EH. Always nice for the local paper to know who they need to contact for a quote. ;)

Ah no just re read my post it was the pub owners I spoke to not the EH. EH was an online form which you wonder if it just dumps it out the back of the computer haha

Try and get a phone number for EH and speak to a real person, making sure you get their name so you can follow it up if they don't do anything. Worth checking what hygiene rating the pub has as well because I doubt they want to lose a good one. I still reckon the shared alleyway is worth looking into. If you don't get anywhere with the general mess, at least you might be able to restrict it to the pub premises.

Have had a reply from the local council to say they have received the complaint and now have a reference number. Any need to follow this up with a call?

All online reviews including hygiene are very good.

She has considered the legal approach just hesitant to get into a fight with them. She was sure that the way the pub was using the space contravened the deeds. Clearly I have not seen any of this and hope that a prod from EH will make them sort it.

There's always going to be a risk of argy-bargy with something like this as people don't like what they see as interference in their lives, regardless of whether it is having a detrimental effect on others or not. Was the pub a tied house or a freehouse. btw? Chains tend to be a bit more image conscious( particularly when they have something to lose) and less likely to take things personally.

Cant see any evidence of being part of a chain.

If it was my shared path, I'd get the so called delivery guys to clear it and put it in front of the said pub... And state the delivery guys said they need a clear passage, other wise if there's blame there's a claim!
