Are we talking power pruner or silky on a stick here?

The only time I'v used one is in the work climb event....

Most cuts are accessible to a climber with a silky, although I wont say never!

I wouldnt want to use a power pole saw in a tree under any circumstances. I have used the long reach hedge cutters in a rope and situation, although that is another story!

in New Zealand I watched the line clearance guys using hydraulic pole pruners ..

I quess in that situation the saw is self tethered via the hydraulic hose.

If you were to use a pole chainsaw in a mewp, then it really should to be tethered to the cage.

Hazzard obviously being the drop.

Are there any other implications to consider, SWLs etc...?

It is far too easy and inviting to overreach whilst in the cage when your work position is a tad short.

This is when the pole would be best used in an aerial situation.

have done alot of line work were poles are escencial for live work. So im pretty handy and use them in all my work now. pulling out of a pond , hangers trimming tips have hooked in the tree and pulled myself in to it when climbing. Little hint i us slings on each pole just a klemist so can add and sorten as needed. I do not use poles ever day when climbing but it can make the job easyer some days
