Customer requested letter for Insurance company

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help? I did some tree work for a customer last year. They have come back requesting me to do an inspection and write a letter for their insurance company. I have done my degree and am aware that report writing has to be accurate with disclaimers in so that you don't get shafted down the line.

Would a basic letter stating any tree issues and recommendations be a reason for the insurance company to try and sue me if the tree failed within 12 months. I would like to get in to the consultancy side of things but do not want to get sued and lose my current business.

Can anyone advise on my best course of action in this situation, my feelings are that a full arboricultural report is needed. But if the insurance company wants this every 12 months it is going to cost the customer a lot.

Thanks in advance

From what you guys are saying then it would be classed as a report which would require professional indemnity insurance.

I will pass it onto somebody else. I have done this before with a view to trying to gain experience with a consultant but everybody seems reluctant to help as they do not want more competition.

Thanks
