Anyone tell me what this is used for? Came with a flip line kit... using ISC rope grab

It's a "cut-away" strap. For use with a wirecore flip line.................. So that you can cut yourself free in case you ever need to.

I also notice that if you need to switch to the front D's on a tree motion it is plenty long enough to clip and not cause any discomfort or have to remove from the side D.

Never mind, with a bit of thought, just answered my own question-it'll make the rescue quicker - cutting the hitch will still leave the pully "trapped" on the wire strop and require a bit of faffing around to release the carbabinas to release the loop of the strop....

The Swedish splice Josh.  Gets stuck in the pulley.

 

edit:  you answered your own q.

 

maybe it is because I am used to it but I find the strop gest less tangled.  When I connect to the d ring I find I am continually loading the bina against the d at funny angles.
