What saws do you run?

The only place really Jay is Ebay, but buying second hand two strokes is a mine field, even if you know what you are doing.

 

You never can tell whether they have been looked after properly, ie decent two stroke oil used and mixed correctly.

 

The only way is to feel the compression, the problem is two strokes have bottom end compression which is difficult to guage, the only way is to take the exhaust off and check the piston skirt for scoring.

 

You can't do that on ebay, you are taking a chance most of the time, buying used

does anyone know of as reliable shop that sell second hand saws. only reason is because they would only be for my own work which isnt everyday or even every week so not really worth spending £1000 or so at the momment. but i think a 341 and a 460 is what i need!

 

 

We sell second hand saws when we get them (not very often). Most guys dont sell there saws they use tnem untill there knackered and replace them. Beware of any second hand saws as they are normally knackared meake sure you take off the exhaust and check the pot and piston before you part with your money. We see a lot of people that have had bargins from Ebay only to find the saw is beyond ecomonical repair.

well if i buy new it will last for years anyway just alot of money if its not making alot to start with. one of my saws is 11 years old but still runs fine and use it regularly.

How do you find your 192t Shansen, I was thinking of getting one just for pruning as it is a lot lighter than the 200t and keep my 200 for take downs.

 

A saw for each job, i have had a 192t for a few years now, great saw, i WILL buy another!

 

Thinning, lifting, dead wood, any pruning bits -great!

 

It will never be as powerful as the 200 but ive opened the silencer and thrown the spark screen-its a massive difference!
