'Bone' oak

I have been asked to fell a stone dead oak. Its a shame as i think it looks great as a feature but customer wants it down (public access etc). Id rather use it for more than firewood, is it worth trying to mill or is it going to be hard going. Cheers

The trunk will mill pretty much just the same as a live one. Standing dead oak of reasonable girth seems to not or hardly dry out at all.
So if it's worth milling, mill it. the fact it was dead before felling it won't make much difference. The potential lack of bark can even be an advantage.

Where abouts are you?

Spiney oak is great to make still out of. It's quite driftwoody. Sadly also excellent firewood
