Hi

I bet you get this question all the time, I am 33 keep myself pretty fit and looking at a career change, I did a horticultural apprenticeship for 3 years before going to uni and one thing led to another and have ended up in an office unhappily for the last 7 years. Have always wanted to get back to outdoor work and feel that tree surgery is a career I would like to follow. I wanted advice on realistic employment opportunities if I undertake one of the intensive tree surgery courses, assuming I pass the certificates. I intend to start the course next September, any advice tips etc...

Thanks

Simon

I did mine at Merrist Wood in Surrey, stayed in my camper in the woods while I was there:thumbup1:

Hey, me too!

Got to hang around and admire the horsey girls flouncing around.

Did the TWTS (that's what it's called!) in '97 and it got the ball rolling- bear in mind it's jst the starting point, not the end in itself. You can only learn so much in 10- 12 weeks. Good luck.

Thanks for posting this Gumbo ,it has re assured me that if i loose a bit of weight and get back into shape i could do the same .And do a job that i would enjoy .

Anyone know of courses near Milton Keynes ??

Cheers Mark

Mark,

Try Moulton College up near Northampton.

There's Capel Manor as well, but it depends on how far you wanna travel. M.k to Enfield's probably gonna take you about an hour.

They also used to run the course at Shuttleworth, but dropped it due to lack of interest.

i did the same course (although mine was 10 week).

there were 3-4 people on the course your age, all found employment quickly.

age doesn't matter really, as long as you can do the job well and safely.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the course?
