Do copy t540s exist? Thought it was just older gen saws

To be honest I don't know . But , just coz we haven't seen it does not mean it doesn't exist !  I was amazed at the visual accuracy of the Chinese clone of the Husky 365 . I know all the " tell tail " signs but from a photograph together with a novices eye  it was convincing .

Highly unlikely IMO, much more likely that the unit has a new factory short bottom end or someone has removed the serials from the saw. If you remove the serials, there will be the remains of the studs or damage to the area, scratches where the plate sits and damage if the studs have been ripped out.

I have done a few short engine replacements and those serial plates don't fall off!!! Removal will leave damage to the locating area.

The SN plates are very easy to remove with the right tool, a very fine screw driver or gasket scraper just tapped round under the rivet head  is enough to lift them and then they just pull out. I have done hundreds as when the short motors came out for the 560 i couldn't send a saw back without its SN. You can reuse the rivets just tap them back in
