Subcontract climber, north lincs

Hi all fairly new to arbtalk always here to search for advice and tips but never posted before, I'm just about to go self employed as a climber been at it now 14 years 5 of those I spent in Calgary Canada the rest here in the UK a mix of domestic and line clearance for WPD and NPG. I have all relevant nptc certs including my UA's all my own kit and a good work ethic

 

Would be great if anyone out there can offer me some work to try and get my days filled.

I have been a contract climber 13 years now all I can say is stick with it in the beginning it will be a bumpy ride u will need to travel and probably work with some people u wish u didn't have but if u love a challenge not just in the tree u will enjoy it and never look back good luck any thing I can help with just ask good luck

Thanks man kinda need that reassurance I love the industry but I'd like a bit of freedom to do what I wanna do, I have as much work I can do on utilities to get me going its just a lot of driving so that's a good start. Just need to get my name out there I think? It would be good to know if you have any personal injury insurance and who your with ?

Good luck mate. I recently made the jump and its hectic.

 

If your decent and don't mind reasonable travel you'll be fine. It helps that there's a lot of self proclaimed "climbers" who aren't that productive, so its not hard to shine.

Yeah, but I undercut everyone else at £80 a day so immobiliser booked up 9 days a week
