Proof ?

I don't know of any downplated vehicles, reading the before and after plates would be the test.

You need to find a vehicle that weighs less than 3500kg with all its working gear, tow hitch, trailer brake system, fuel, driver etc and any weight superimposed by the trailer plus sufficient GTW plus the manufactures recommended towing capacity sufficient for the trailer plus load. Then downplate it and see if the towing MAM changes.

I've looked around a number of 7.5 tonne vehicles and they are too close to 3.5 tonne unladen. The Iveco you posted urls for brochure were only rated for small trailers on overrun brakes.

Proof ?

Plenty of identical vans available in various MAM capacities that have different GTW's.

Actually I do know a few people that have down plated vans and mini busses so will ask for pics of before and after plates.

Had a customer last week that passed his BE test but then I had to tell him he needed a new van as his T280 only had a 7-800kg towing capacity if the van was full.
