A large part of this thread has a feeling of desperation. I would have thought the log business is something you have as an add on to your main business and build up over several years through good reputation. If you want to make it your main busineess you will need a large dry storage area at minimum cost so you can process and season a huge amout of timber through the summer. You are not going to earn a living wage from 300 tonnes of timber in a muddy field starting in september. Not having a go at anyone just my opinion. Start gradually and build steadily. The margins are tight and capital investment is relatively large. At the moment things are quite as the weather is mild but given a few weeks time dry quality firewood will be in high demand. The future looks good for firewood sales as fossil fuels are getting expensive and percieved as damaging to the enviroment. Keep the customers faith and promote the business for the future ( I sound like a far out man enviromentalist and I have had a few drinks so this could look really stupid in the morning )

Stay safe and enjoy what you are doing

Well its cost me 22k so far just to set up and i wont be selling any logs till next year

I would of thought keeping your overheads to a mininum would of be a safer bet, overwise it's going to be a long time before you saw a return.
