That is a lot is an understatement!

We have grown to a firm with 8-10 employees, while I understand trees, being compliant with Health and Safety and Employment law is a whole different ball game.. It might be:001_smile: more effective to pass that on to someone who knows what they are doing...

Sorry Ben, I was answering from my phone while doing other things.

One concern or thought I have, is how knowledgeable are these companies in the field of arboriculture? As the industry is quite specialised, but with overlaps into other industries I have some doubts about how good a service these companies can provide.

A bit different, but I get a couple of calls a week from website designers. Yes they can design a good website, but from experience I do know that the amount of input required by the owner is such, that you might as well work through it and do it yourself.

Every company I've worked with and for have had to go backwards and forwards to get what they needed (and paid a lot) and then found that they were bound into something unsuitable and not entirely fit for their purposes.

Someone here may have experience with them and prove me entirely wrong though.

When I got the unsolicited phone call I nearly said no, which is my normal response. After the sales patter I was a bit more interested..

If what they offer was arb specific, it would be great, My guess is it would not be perfect and I would have to be delighted with it to be willing to sign up for 5 years.. and £10 grand..

It is expensive being compliant with H&S and employment law and takes up my time preventing me from doing other stuff...

For a couple of hundred quid you could be doing IOSH Managing safely and a few other things COSHH and stuff. Probably better invested money. Do some staff management courses and get contracts and things made up by a pro. I don't think it would all come to 10k.

I did Iosh managing safely recently, I don't think this will solve bens problem.

It was like doing the worlds longest site induction.

I get the problem, we know trees, we use accountants because we don't have time to spend learning the in's and outs of tax law. I'm having someone do a new web page for us because I don't have time to learn how to do it. As we expand our time becomes more focused on what we do to keep the guys moving. if our attention is diverted away bad things happen.
