I recently did work experience and the guy gave me this saw, he said it had only ever been used 10 or so times.

On the carb the H screw has a yellow cap on it which i think is a limiter but the idle screw and the L screw have no signs of limiters

The low screw should be turned fully in LIGHTLY so it can go no further and then turned anticlockwise ONE TURN. If the H screw has a limit cap and yours sounds like it has, just turn it anticlockwise till it stops. If the saw starts, adjust the idle until you get a steady idle without the chain spinning.

I love these threads that last weeks with a job that would take a competent tech around 1-2 hours to fix:lol: I guess you will have a sense of achievement if you ever get it to work but it may be easier to get it to someone who has some experience with chainsaws or garden machinery.

No disrespect, everyone has their skill sets and am sure you can do something I would be crap at......I hope:001_tongue:

Yeah air filter is good.

Everything in it looks perfect all clean no signs of wear and tare.....

All i can assume is that it is something to do with the carb weather that it is not tuned properly or it might be clogged up with old fuel.

If adjusting it doesn't work i will take the carb apart and clean it or get a new one :)

Whereabouts are you Harry, you don't have a location in your profile ? Someone more familiar with saws could just look at it with you. Try some fuel down the plug hole (a teaspoonful) and warming the plug on the cooker then put it back together pretty quick and pull it over with fast idle set or wedge the trigger with your foot.
