This thread caused me to dig out my old 10mm strop with the loose stowed in a chalk bag.

I nicked the VT bits for something else ages ago.

Used my mates Zillon today and really liked it.

Anyone tried it on 10mm? And can I buy the Zillon unit separately anywhere?

Doubtful you could buy the Zillon separate. Petzl absolutely insist on using their rope. I talked to the Petzl rep at the Arb show and he said it's got nothing to do with you spending your money with them, but, if you used a different brand of rope the device would instantly disintegrate......,

It's the best stuff in my opinion! I was using a hitch climber on my side line for a bit then my friend gave me the postioner because he didn't like and I'm so glad he did!

 

It's a 3m salamander xc 13mm it's in between a wire core and soft rope feel! I only use it on hard woods! Then I have a wire core with a normal rope grab for soft woods
