RW vs akimbo and ZZ

Recommended Posts

Problem I find with the wrench is that any rope over 11mm creates too much drag for limb walks. You need to really put some weight into the system to get it to move. Not great on skinny branches.

I'm using velocity with the wrench at the minute and its massively better.

I have the same problem when on the wrench Joe.. Being lighter its hard to get enough weight into it to get things moving.

Although you are not really supposed to, I tend to just depress the wrench into the hitch and move like that if I dont have a lot of weight in the system. Then when descending with my full weight on it, I will operate it normally.:thumbup1:

At the moment i prefer the ZZ and wrench set up over a VT - I climb on cougar blue and orange, I thought it was nice and smooth on ascending, and the real winner for me is using it when branch walking as I dont have to give it a bit of shove to get moving like i did when using a VT and RW, there is virtually no sit back and i find it much more comfortable walking in and slack tending with it. It works well jsut grabbing the tether and shoving the system up - something that with the sit back on VT isnt as effective imop -also the ZZ looks more shiny.
