PTO sticking on Case 995

The PTO on my case 995 has become stuck permanently on. The lever became really stiff to use for a while and now it wont move. I have checked for debris around the lever and linkage and it all seems fine, would the PTO clutch do this if it wears?

Cheers

Dave, I used to work on Case tractors as a lad but it's been a long time now.

If I remember correctly, behind the near side rear wheel is the MCV (multi control valve), it's the big cast lump with a filter canister protruding from it. Mounted on, I believe, the top of this valve block is the IPTO (independent pto) valve which controls oil flow to the pto pack, it's got a fork arrangement to move the valve. If you look carefully you should be able to see with the help of a willing helper if the linkage is actually trying to move when the lever is operated in the cab. I think the pivots could well be seized in your case. All this vale does is supply oil to a clutch pack for the pto so check it it's moving .

All the best.........

Some of the case tractors had a cable operated PTO control, they seize and bind up in time. May be worth digging a bit deeper.

Managed a bit of time on it yesterday and this morning. There is a small cast box underneath the pto and 3pl levers that over time, around 30 years I imagine fills with mud, chip and everything else. I spent a good amount of time cleaning this out and the pto lever moves now although still quite notchy. However it os good enough to put back to work for a while now. Thanks for the help
