No cross bar may weaken the grab a bit, but I totally get it about contamination when feeding a chipper. The blades will thank you.

What weight is your tree shear? Apologies if it's been asked already

 

 

Thanks, works nicely and the grab is very tough so far can't see it coming to any harm. Tree shear is 240kg in catalogue but plate says 260kg...so somewhere round there. You certainly know it's there but can work it in all positions, can get a surprising range of movement from one position using the offset as well.

Bits in these photos aren't massive but the whole hedge was all matted together with slot of bramble in places using the shear was a game changer, would have been weeks climbing it.
