Should be getting the saw back tomorrow has been fixed under sthils warrenty, due to further investigation it was found to also have a hole in the top of the piston.

A hole in the piston also, not the quality you'd expect from Stihl yet people still rave on about how good they are. Those days are long gone now I would say. Sorry that's not a dig at your good self just venting....

My guess would be that the piece of metal that once filled that hole was guilty of scoring your bore! Not good reliability considering limited use, but at least they honoured the warranty. Best thing you can do now is sell it whilst it is still working and use the money to buy a Husky!

I've never bought aspen or motomix (too tight) shelf life unopened is very long but how long will a container last once opened?

Aspen will keep usable for the same time opened, in a machine or in the can.

 

5 years.
