cheers for the reply mate, i might go and do it again as if you can do your own kit then it would be worth while to have it, there was also talk of it having an expiry of 5year is that true?

yep to the 5 year thing and all other units should be updated too

It was the SAC course i was intending on doing. it's all on hold now as i can't get the cash to Ayr by tomorrow.

I've been wanting to do it for a few years now, just i've been trying to figure out if it would be viable finacialy...anyway i'm off climbing

i have been quiet of late. been busy doing other things.

As Judge said you can inspect your own kit. Jamie as a splicer you would be an ideal inspector of climbing equipment, I wonder, are splices even covered in LOLER inspections today?

My main area of interest was in splicing, i've had a few broken and i've redesigned a few. I'd imagine splices have to be tested. my main concern was forking out cash (i don't really have) and it not paying for itself.

I've missed the booking date for it now anyway. maybe next year.

Jamie, SAC were still trying to sort things out late last week, the girl who sorts bookings etc at Auchincruive is off sick & Rosemary at Lanark has been sorting things, might be worth giving her a call. They can take payment via a card if its quicker for you.

If you dont mind me asking how much is it to do the course?

Dont think I could be bothered inspecting others kits but suppose its got to be beneficial in knowing exactly what to look for with mine.
