I had a pair of the fighters. Really nice solid boots but they didn't last me that long unfortunately.

What happened to them ? I've just thrown them away after two years as they stank and where too stiff with sweat and fancied some thing new! Used to get 6 months out of hiax.

Basically the same plus they lost their shape, support and waterproofing. The latter was probably from me not looking after them. I suppose I've been spoilt with the comfort of the airstreams too although the Tirrols were fantastic for spike work.

What's the weather like in Taupo? I've only ever been this time of year and it was pretty warm.. problem I've found with pfanner boots in general is they are hot,I don't mind putting extra socks on if needs be and the main reason I switched to Andrews is they seem a lot cooler.. I used too dream of putting my feet in the fridge wearing zermatts in summer !

Meindl Waldlaufers are excellent. So tight when new I thought I was going to have to get the next size up but they moulded and stretched brilliantly.

Value for money in terms of durability and comfort I rate these above all others.

However, I never consider the cost when I'm choosing boots. I only think of the hours I spend in them and choose the pair I feel comfiest in.
