See, this was one of the benefits of belonging to the European Union..

 

If citizens of both North and South felt they were Europeans first, Irish or British second, they wouldn't be so keen on working themselves up about identity...

Oh! ffs, spaz, fat chance of that fool aspiration, in ANY European country.

Any Society is built on a sense of identity, which preforce will mostly be based on a local area and country.

Because that is how most people live.

Like fer instance, within the Irish Nationalist grouping, the Cork Men, or the people from Westport, hate them Dublin feckers, wi their flash cars and big city attitudes.

Ditto within the Unionist community, even within the v. limited confines of NI.

i.e.

Blood is thicker than water.

true, your average Irish/Ulsterman could start an argument in an empty room.

 

Not sure thats true, from my experience theres not much difference between Irish rivalry and our own....

 

Every town can't stand the next one down here LOL.....
