Pollution mask recommendations ?

Just changed to a diesel grinder and the fumes are leaving me in a bad state after a few hours use.

 

Anyone recommend a mask? I looked on screwfix ( they sent me some vouchers) but there hundreds on the website.

I bought one of these a while ago and it's brilliant. Comfortable, seals well (the seal can be checked with the clickable filters), easy to breathe. You'd need to select the right filter for your application (for diesel fumes & stump grinding dust).

p.s.... and maybe adjust for cleaner emissions too... service fuel injectors, adjust diesel pump, etc??

Sounds like your chipper engine is warn out Matt. May I recommended a new Timberwolf 230, it's a great machine.

Is it possible to redirect the exhaust more away from the operator? Bit of flexi pipe on the end to change the direction it blows?

Did consider it.

 

Main issue is the exhaust is forward facing, the throttle control and manual clutch lever are also on the front side of the engine. So, to either knock back the revs, or engage the clutch requires leaning around the front of the engine inches from the exhaust getting a face full each time.

 

But yes, a 90 degree bend on the tip may well help things.

Sorry Matt, just realised it's your grinder. I would service it first and try to get it to run cleaner. Try to position it so the wind takes the fumes away when you are grinding. Some diesel engines smell awful, try to redirect the exhaust pipe.
