I bought one of these a while ago and it's brilliant. Comfortable, seals well (the seal can be checked with the clickable filters), easy to breathe. You'd need to select the right filter for your application (for diesel fumes & stump grinding dust).

Sounds like your chipper engine is warn out Matt. May I recommended a new Timberwolf 230, it's a great machine.

 

Chippers fine John, its the grinder that gives me a face full.

Is it possible to redirect the exhaust more away from the operator? Bit of flexi pipe on the end to change the direction it blows?

 

 

Did consider it.

 

Main issue is the exhaust is forward facing, the throttle control and manual clutch lever are also on the front side of the engine. So, to either knock back the revs, or engage the clutch requires leaning around the front of the engine inches from the exhaust getting a face full each time.

 

But yes, a 90 degree bend on the tip may well help things.
