Big chippers

Is there any one out there with big chipper. I have approx 200 trees felled out and stacked in a field that are needed to be converted into chip for a cattle corral. The chip needs to be 3-4 inch pieces, and the machine needs to be able to cope with 15" very knotty pine. The work is in far west wales, any helpfull or unhelpfull advice would be appreaciated.

if its for a cow bed thenyou will need chip the size of small logs for it to work properly, so it will need to be a corkscrew chipper. small chips dont work.if someone tels you they do then they just want the job.

The only machine that will do that job is the big Laimet. There was a contractor running one on a truck based in Scotland. Whereabouts exactly in west Wales? I'm pretty westish myself

i dont know if he is still going edd, i went to see his machine working about 7 years ago, serious bit of kit and needed alot of horse power(500plus i think)

What about a big Heizohack? Can be hired from anyone nationally I think. I have a pal with one in Sussex, I think it goes allover the place on a low loader for big clearance and Biomass chipping. PM me if you want his details.

Was it an old fire engine or somesuch? It did need a lot of power, he had a 350hp cummins on it, and it was bogging down on fatter pieces.

 

Its the size of the chip for corrals thats critical, it needs to be 3"+ to drain properly.

The only other machine is a well set up M30 Morbark, but the only 1 in he country is permanently in Norbord is Stirling.

chip it too small for the corral to work properly, the chip needs to be big chunks like ugly kindlers hencs the corkscrew chipper. its all to do with the organisms breaking down the waste under the surface. and leave the top dry, small chip compacts and doesnt work

not sure edd if it was a fire engine but it was a big old truck, i think he was the first guy to make the jump, it had its own engine to power the truck and a conveyor for the wood and the crane on the back, it loves logs but hates off cuts, the poor guy had to shove through a couple of thousand tons of slab wood as the chipper wouldnt pull it in, then the farmer up here didnt pay him:sneaky2:
