You need a chest harness for the Hitch Hiker.

The HH is a perfectly designed device but the rope and hitch cord choice is critical.

Make sure you have a cord that suits your rope perfectly. Also be sure to experiment with hitch tightness as this also makes the difference between awful and excellent.

I am pretty comfortable experimenting with hitch cord and ropes, been on a tachyon /armorpruss combination for years and was happy climbing ddrt until tennis elbow started to kick in

Look at the 4srt Chester this is what I would recommend from my experience with the hitch hiker.[ATTACH]215163[/ATTACH]

I personally found it too heavy and too much drag to work with the neck tether, also I could not tie the climbing knot loose enough for my liking. Not sure why the RW was hitting you in the face

Hmm, does it break away? I free climb quite a lot and have a horror of slipping and hanging myself on a snag. ...

Your more likely to do that with a neck loop! I've only climbed in one once I prefer the neck loop... but can't imagine the scenario you put out ever happening with a Chester , I just don't think it would be possible.

Well there's a webbing loop around your neck, which looks pretty strong. .. I am just feeing my way around a totally new style of climbing [emoji1] and all advice is much appreciated

Just remember your only using your cheat harness to go up the tree mate. The rest of the time it's not clipped in, unless......your going up
