I am looking at a chipper on eBay at the moment emailed the seller through eBay asking photos of the vin plate to see if I can try to check on the history but he told me he is not comfortable sending me the pictures started alarm bells, it may be a genuine sale but I am to over cautious these days, anyone know how I can check on machine history if I won the bid and went up there before I handed over the money,

Thanks in advance

In my humble opinion if the the seller won't provide basic information so you can check if it's legit then I'd know all I needed - run a mile.

Without a serial number from the chassis, original invoice from the dealer or lots of service history from a recognised dealer who will vouch for the machine - I'd not hand over a penny.

Item 291954428821? The seller is ringing alarm bells for me! Whilst I appreciate we all have to start somewhere, his feedback is 3 with 4 purchases, 3 of which are from the same seller and the fourth is from an 'associated' seller (all are music related). He is now selling 2 big ticket items and thus without any company information, there is little security when buying from a distance unless it is strictly cash on collection. Of note, there is a Country Wide Grounds Maintenance company in Gloucester (Country Wide Grounds Maintenence, Gloucester - Gardeners in Gloucester - Reviews, Phone Number & Photos) but no way of knowing if they are one and the same.

Anyone else done any digging?

I bought a second (third/fourth/fifth) hand Entec from Brightwells Auctions in Hereford earlier this year for not very much money and they have 5 chippers in Decembers auction - might be worth a trip up from Devon?
