Hi, I recently had my 288 stolen and am now looking for another one. Anybody got one they'd be willing to sell? Not in a massive rush but keeping my eyes open for the right saw. I'm in Devon if that helps.

Cheers, Toby

I've a 181 for sale if it's of any interest? know it's a bit older and a few cc less than the 288 but shares loads of parts and handles just the same.

Thanks, I've got a great deal if it want it for a tidy 281 but just want that extra bit of power of the 288

I made a 188 by taking a 181 and fitting a 54mm piston and cylinder from the 288. Works a treat as is my milling saw on a 36" chilaskan, absolutely rips. I have a 281 I rebuilt and am tempted to do the same on this one.

Was this with an OEM piston and cylinder, or an aftermarket one? I did think about doing the same on the 281 I've found but wasn't sure on the quality/performance of the aftermarket as it's difficult/expensive to find OEM ones

Toby,

Will sell you this for £350 with 30" bar and new unused full chisel chain. It was a 66 that logged that Beech in the pic, the 288 was for making the stump flat. I don't work the 288 hard, it was always a back up for the 66 so it's only seen reasonable work over the years. Can post a vid of it cutting if it helps.

The saw has a minor issue just now with the brake creeping on which I will fix and a small section of the sideplate is missing you can see in the pic.
