When we were there told often trees would break without warning and are called "widow makers". We went to see a friend in Sydney and less than two minutes later whilst inside the top of this tree smashed down on the drive.

 

The additional issue is some areas in cities are so overgrown now there is a serious bush fire risk.

 

Difficult decisions between veteran trees and human life.

Many widow makers here and have see first hand the results of tree damage after Tornados spawned by Hurricanes. I choose to be safe rather than sorry and remove dangerious trees planted to close or in and around areas that can be destroyed by storms. Trees can always be replanted homes and lives are a little harder to mend.
